A Great Place to Live...Today!
The John Birdine Neighborhood Center
215 Lakewood Way SW
Atlanta, GA 30315
Greetings from Neighborhood Planning Unit Y of Atlanta!!!
My name is Russell Hopson and I'm the NPU chair for one of Atlanta's most promising areas. NPU-Y is home to more than 11,000 residents, many of whom own their homes and have lived here most of their lives. Several of our neighborhoods have a rich history and have existed for nearly 100 years. Not only do we boast easy access to Interstate 20 and the 75/85 Corridor, but we're also just minutes from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and Downtown Atlanta. We are home to several promising businesses and industries including Aaron's Amphitheater at Lakewood, Screen Gems EUE and A-Tow amongst others. If education is a concern we are home to the #1 high school in Georgia, Carver Early College, one of the most prestigious private schools in the world, The Ron Clark Academy, and are in proximity to several renowned Charter Schools. We're also proud of our numerous parks, green spaces and recreational facilities including Chosewood Park, Boulevard Crossing Park, South Bend Park, South Atlanta Park, The Villages at Carver YMCA and The Joseph B. Whitehead Boys and Girls Club. Oh and I forgot to mention that the Atlanta Beltline expansion is slated to come right through NPU-Y.
Our GREATEST resource, however, is our residents. We have several robust neighborhood organizations that provide a plethora of support and programming for our residents in their respective communities. Whether it's Chosewood Park planting trees, High Point Estates sharing laughs at their neighborhood dog park or the residents of Historic South Atlanta talking trash at their annual Kickball tournament, there are always plenty of opportunities to feel the love and warmth from those around you. As gridlock and real estate prices continue to be a headache I'd like to welcome you to see why our NPU may be an ideal place for you to settle. Our meetings are the third Monday of every month at 7pm at The John Birdine Neighborhood facility and you are more than welcome to reach out to me or our executive team with any questions or concerns.
